Event reporting officer – CRRÉ (event reporting centre)

The CRRÉ event reporting officer receives and processes calls from people wishing to report an incident that requires an event report to be filed. Making a report by phone is available to the public in any of the following situations:

• Theft in or on a vehicle
• Certain non-violent petty larcenies
• Mischief (vandalism, broken property, etc.)
• Lost items requiring a report to be filed by the police

This officer also informs complainants of the organizations that can help them resolve their problems or about other legal recourses (insurance companies, compensation for victims of crime, etc.).

The officer analyzes and makes connections when incidents are reported at the same locations or when they are of a similar nature and works with analysts from investigation centres and local police stations to communicate any relevant information.
