SAUVER | Soutien Aux Victimes de Fraude, Éduquer et Référer
SAUVER | Support Among United Victims of fraud, Educate and Refer
While senior fraud is a growing phenomenon, this program aims to support vulnerable individuals who have been victims of online romance scams and grandparent scams.
SAUVER provides a support group when or after the crime is committed, and following the victim’s filing of a complaint to the SPVM. The program aims to launch an approach and promote the reporting of these crimes by victims. It marks the beginning of a process designed to support, prevent repeat occurrences and rebuild the victim's life. Without adequate support, the victim runs high risks of cutting themselves off from others, becoming a victim again and depriving themselves of the help and resources they need to recover.
In this way, SAUVER brings victims together in a safe space where they can share the traumatic experiences they have in common. This program is coordinated by the SPVM and is carried out in collaboration with the involvement of community, health and social services sectors. SAUVER helps victims overcome the feeling of shame they may feel, helps them understand what happened and how it all unfolded. Participants will receive valuable prevention tips, be offered psycho-social assistance and support resources, and find out more about the services on offer in their district.
