Police Station

Our goals

The team at PDQ 46 works to maintain security in its territory, in compliance with the SPVM's global priorities. To this end, the team has established these objectives :

Anchor the police service in the community

  • Ensure that all police officers are thoroughly acquainted with the territory, the people they serve (their needs, expectations and problems) and the local resources.
  • Step up efforts to resolve the issue of racial profiling by demystifying the role of the police, establishing connections between police officers and newcomers from various cultural communities and determining the needs of the cultural communities with regard to the different services the police service can offer.
  • Develop an information session for high school students on the various bylaws governing the sharing of public spaces, with the goal of reducing anti-social behaviours.

Maintain public security

  • Complete the implementation of the domestic violence action plan:
    • by clarifying the complaint process to the target clientele
    • by publically promoting the protocol for disclosing personally identifiable information to another organization (CSSS) and encouraging reporting to end isolation
  • Improve the road safety record by reducing the number of accidents leading to death and injury
    • by conducting several road safety interventions in response to temporary and long-term problems
    • by conducting Alcool operations
    • by taking part in the borough’s traffic committee
    • by making school zones safer through education efforts and suppression operations
    • by raising pedestrian and cyclist awareness through education
    • by targeting accident-prone locations for pedestrians
    • by making presentations for young children in elementary schools
    • by making presentations in high schools about alcohol, drugs and speed behind the whee
  • Encourage regular direct contact with the public:
    • by providing police visibility through foot patrols, to increase the public sense of security in Anjou
    • through door-to-door visits in multi-unit residences
    • through preventive patrols and interventions in parks and commercial areas
