Coffee with a COP and VCOPs

04 february 2019

Our first “coffee with a cop” activity of 2019 was held this past Thursday, January 24th in the conference room of police station 9. We met with more than 40 members of VCOP-Volunteer citizens on patrol. Amongst those present were Philip Chateauvert and Jean-Marc Dubois from Cote Saint-Luc public security as well as the director of Info-Crime Montreal, Jean Touchette. The objective of this event was to build stronger partnership relations and better plan the various prevention activities that will be held in 2019.

The volunteer citizens on patrol members are our eyes and ears and contribute each year to the reduction of crime in the city ofCote Saint-Luc. During this event, the VCOPs were given a guided tour of the police station which was much appreciated by all. This visit gave them an insight into our workplace. We also took advantage of this opportunity to inform them that we would gladly like to implicate them in prevention activities related to road safety, local events and prevention of crime.

Mr. Jean Touchette, was asked to present the various services offered by Info-Crime Montreal. This non-profit organization is dedicated to denouncing the crimes anonymously. Info-Crime Montreal is a program in partnership with the City of Montreal, which requires the participation of the general public, the media and the police. Info-Crime Montreal encourages citizens to fight against crime by calling anonymously 514-393-1133 to report any criminal act. It is also possible to report any criminal information you possess on line.

The event was a success and appears to have been enjoyed by the guests.

A special thanks toElaine Meunierand Susie Schwartz both VCOPs who invited the other VCOPs.  We would also like to send a special thanks to Mr. Pierre Brunet the owner of the McDonald’s situated at 7003 Cote St-Luc road for the coffee donation which contributed to the success of the event.
