An experienced crossing guard!

13 may 2021

I've been a crossing guard since 2006 at the Benny and Monkland intersection. I was looking for a new job, my daughters were young, and I could be with them soon right after school and on their days off.

In addition, working outdoors is more pleasant than in an office. Finally I really liked it and I do the job for 15 years! What I like most is the contact with the children. We don't see them for long, but we get to know them. Sometimes; they share their little victories or joys with us and inform us of their birthdays.

It's cute and touching. Winter is more difficult, but you end up finding ways to keep warm. What causes me the most problems are motorists in a hurry who want override my stop or would like me to disappear even if the children have not made it to the other side of the street.

Cyclists also sometimes simply ignore the stop and even try to pass between children. Fortunately, for most people, once explained to them, they respect the stop!
