The local police station's objective is to better combat the safety issues specific to each area. This allows for a strengthening of its community ties through an approach based on solving problems, building partnerships and on a greater openness toward community groups.
Its focus is on offences and other repeated incidents that affect the police and the public. The SPVM recognizes that it cannot resolve criminal, disorder and safety issues on its own. It needs to have partners and the population who also have a determining role in respect to public safety and resolving problems.
All of the other SPVM units combine forces with local police station staff to reinforce knowledge, evaluate the needs of the neighbourhoods and ensure service delivery on a territorial basis.
