Call for vigilance : Prevention of residential breaking and entering

13 february 2019

Neighbourhood police stations 1 and 26 ask the citizens to exercise vigilance to prevent residential breaking and entering. Following a few events that happened in Town of Mount Royal, Outremont, and Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce, it turns out that ill-intentioned individuals have broke and entered by posing as merchants, peddlers, or offering services such as knife sharpening or telecommunication repairs. Although this activity is strictly prohibited in certain boroughs, these individuals still do it. When they ring and no one answers, they find a way to enter through a back door or by any other means, and proceed to rob the house, without attracting the attention of neighbours who think the person is a seller.

The citizens are invited to report any suspicious activity in their neighbourhood by calling 911 immediately, or their neighbourhood police station: station 11 (Notre-Dame-de-Grâce)
at 514-280-0111 and station 26 (Town of Mount-Royal, Outremont and Côte-des-Neiges)
at 514-280-0126.

Neighbourhood police stations 1 and 26 thank the citizens for their cooperation and assure them that they are making every effort to stop these individuals.
