MONTRÉAL, January 22, 2026. – Throughout the year, the major crimes unit of the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) will be bringing attention to certain unsolved murder cases in the hope that members of the public will be able to recall details that could lead to their resolution. Today, the SPVM is appealing to the public for information regarding the unsolved murder of Elisha Vernon Davis, 31, which occurred on December 3, 2018, in the borough of Plateau-Mont-Royal. Investigators are trying to identify a suspect seen in video footage captured at the time of the incident.

Case summary

At around 12:30 a.m., during a music event bringing together various artists from many major Canadian cities, including Toronto, a show was taking place at a licensed venue on Boulevard Saint-Laurent, near Avenue du Mont-Royal, when an individual opened fire inside the premises.

In the ensuing chaos, as people rushed outside, several altercations broke out around the venue. It was during this time that a suspect shot and killed Elisha Vernon Davis.

Video footage

The investigation team has released a video captured by a surveillance camera at the building’s emergency exit at the time of the incident. The footage shows an altercation between several individuals, including a suspect whom authorities are attempting to identify. The suspect is a black man who was wearing a Toronto Raptors cap and a blue/purple hoodie.
